ASSISTANT DIRECTOR DESCRIPTION

 

     Assists the director in all assigned tasks.  This position only takes direction from and performs tasks assigned by the director. 

 Plans annual calendar with director and other production team members. This includes all audition dates, rehearsal dates and parades or special events.

 Copies all music.  Recruit a group to fill the music folders for the cast and distribute at first rehearsal.  Develop a numbering system for the music folders.

 Copies and distributes the rehearsal schedule to all cast and the president of the board.

 Copies and distributes to the cast and president of the board any forms used for the cast, such as waiver forms; audition forms, attendance rosters, cast contract, etc.

 Makes sure that every member from last year’s cast is called or written to, inviting them to audition for the current year’s show.

 Assists with the paperwork at auditions.

Get health forms and waiver forms signed and filed. 

 Makes copies of the full script and distributes to all directors and the president of Showboat, along with one for the file.

 Separates the skits and dialogue, copies them and hands out to appropriate cast by June 15th.  Under the direction of the director, may be asked to conduct rehearsals of skits.

 Separates out the captain’s dialogue and distributes it to the director and the captain.  

 Make sure there are enough chairs; names tags and pencils on hand.

 Prepare the cast “show order” list.  Put 2 large copies on the boat – 2 copies on the stage for the cast. 

 Maintain  rehearsal attendance roster.

 Prepare a program list with the names of all performers and band members to the Board President by June 15th.  Be sure to adivse her/him of any changes by July 1. 

 Oversee the return of the music books.   Keep at least 5 for special performances.

 Oversee the filing of the music on clean up day.
