TECHNICAL DIRECTOR DESCRIPTION
Feb-Apr. Locate sound and light personnel 1-2 beside yourself (1 for sound, 1 for spot, and 1 for lights. Spot may also run light board May Check sound and light booth for any problems created over winter. Work with Director, Choral Director, and Band Director to create sound and light design. June On scheduled Work Day, check and set up lights. Four poles with can lights and 10 overhead can lights (stored in building). Paint if necessary. Set up flood lights were necessary. Check all sound equipment. If problems arise, repair or replace within budget. Learn placement of speakers, monitors and all microphones (stands, overhead, and lapel). Schedule sound personnel for technical and dress rehearsals and each performance. Set a day to visit Reif Center to learn the sound and light systems for two performances. (Call John Miller 327-5780) July Practice putting up and taking down all sound equipment. Check for plastic bags to cover sound equipment in case of rain. The sound system should be ready and tested 1 hour before all performances. Takes approx. 1.5 hrs to set up. All sound equipment must be taken down after each performance. On Tear Down day all lights must be taken down and stored in building, sound equipment should be stored and covered. Provide board with “wish list” of items for next year. Off season Work with Special Performance Committee to design and set up sound needed for those performances. Submit a report to the Showboat Board or Directors as well as a budget for next year by the February Board meeting. And report monthly thereafter.
